Bulgarian PTW/AEG mishmash rifle

Split ICS-esque gearbox, but with a QD spring mechanism. Realsteek style trigger, no dry firing, functional bolt release, internal MOSFET, and all while using standard motors, gears, pistons, magazines and so on. This looks like it might be a winner.

So basically switch out the top part of the GB and youve got your other set up?

No, it has a QD spring mechanism. No need for multiple cylinders/uppers. The purpose of the split gearbox appears to be to allow you to just crack the receiver open and remove the spring without removing the GB from the lower.

Price range is supposed to be in the $400-500 range (seems about right), but the estimated release date isn't until March 2013.

hmmm... that's an iffy statement, first of all before I get flamed for pointing out the flaws in this weapon, I do like it and I will probably end up with one.

But before I buy one a few issues need to be adressed:

1) It has body tabs, these are notorious to break and they suck. they need to figure out a way around it like systema did
2) the built in trigger guard, what if I want to change it or wearing gloves and need to remove it to access the trigger?
3) the fugly attempt at the Daniel defense style rail system, it is to short for the barrel length, and is still attached via the delta ring

finally the most deal breaking for me but probably not the mast majority:

4) the ugly ass trade marks, is the lower receiver compatable with after market? If not then will their be an option of a blank receiver like you can get with the PTW's?

if these flaws are fixed I would seriously consider one but until then it's :-\

I agree with some of that, 2nd Ranger. I don't know that the body tabs will definitely break off. Kwa ones seem to hold up just fine. I do think the integrated trigger guard is unfortunate and the rails look weird. As for the trades, I always say if the externals aren't awesome, paint it.

I am curious about the trigger too. It doesn't so much say that it is based on a real steel trigger as it says that the trigger has a break and a reset. I hope it's not a micro switch. Airsoft systems makes some pretty nice mosfets from what I've heard, so the electrical certainly COULD BE awesome.

the integral trigger guard isn't that big of a deal. the rest of the gun looks cheap. bulgaria..really..most people don't even know where bulgaria is. if you want a ptw, buy a ptw. otherwise, get an echo 1.

I have to say that while the externals look pretty cheap I would like to think that the internals will be solid making this a winner for me. I like the split gearbox design and the mosfet is a plus. So it looks like a systema but cheaper and better because it uses standard parts.

I think it might be more valid to compare this to a TM recoil rifle, but with a split gearbox. At roughly 1/3rd the cost of a PTW it will certainly sell well enough, but die-hard PTW owners will never convert to a "lesser" platform. Having used and worked on PTWs a fair bit recently, I can safely say all they offer over a high end AEG is the sound and trigger pull. The hopup is pretty bad for what it is, and the receivers are laughably flimsy.

The only noticeable difference when shooting this rifle (vs. a normal AEG) should be in the feel of the trigger. It still won't sound like a PTW since it's essentially a V2 gearbox with some significant structural and electrical changes.

I wish they would just sell the trigger as a drop-in part for ICS. That would just about sum up this rifle.

Not really. This has a thin buffer tube similar to the aftermarket PTW tubes, internal MOSFET, new hopup chamber, and a quick change spring system.
