Just Wondering
Just Wondering
What is the farthest shot any ones made? Not consistently just farthest someone has set up a target and shot it with an airsoft gun.

Re: Just Wondering
The furthest target anyone has ever hit with an airsoft gun? I know of no such number, 300ft is a common distance to target shoot. Some do 400ft. Past that isn't very common to just have a target and start shooting at it. The ammo cost at that point usually doesn't justify the cost of making such a shot, when it would be better used making that sort of shot in game.jakger wrote:What is the farthest shot any ones made? The longest confirmed hit that I'm aware of, was done at 520ft, with a gun shooting 720fps with .20s, on full auto. And yes, the gun was arched.

Re: Just Wondering
Several people in SC have confirmed kills around 325ft or so in SC alone.

Re: Just Wondering
Almost 175 yards, with an airsoft gun? I'm calling shenanigins. 720fps with 20's? Anyone know how it hit the target?
All I can speak to is the experience I have with my VSR-10, I have it shooting 529fps with .29's. When I put .25's in it to chrono is produces a buckshot pattern. In other words it shoots all over the place because the bb's are too light. What kind of AEG is going to put out 720fps, shoot .20's and hit a target 173 yards away?
Echo 1 has the right idea, ( I hit a guy REALLY far away once)

Sorry, Star that post sounded kind of pissy, I didn't mean it to. I am just curious about what kind of gear they were using. I have over a grand in my VSR and it will just make it 300ft.

Re: Just Wondering
I doubt he used .20s for the long shot; I would assume that he meant it chrono'd at 720/.20g.

Re: Just Wondering
Steevo's right about the fps thing. I believe he was using .4s. The gun was a G&G M14, and, similarly to your VSR, had over a grand put into it to reliably shoot that far, that hard. 700fps AEGs are difficult to build, I've done a few, I've seen what can be done. It's impressive he got the M14 shooting as well as he did, and it required a ton of custom work. It would have been much easier to get an M16 shooting that far, that well. He just happens to live in an area that allows guns shooting that hot, and on full auto (ouch). Given the way that airsoft works, full auto is an incredible advantage if you already have the range. Without a significant power advantage, semi auto is wasted. We're (Us Designated Marksmen) to have good gaps, and good rules for DMRs. The difference between 400fps and 560fps with .25s is 1.86J and 3.64J. Imagine the kind of fire power possible with almost 4J and full auto, much less 5J and full auto.
When you begin to think about it, and to understand the system, you'll see that the claim is not so outrageous. I've built a gun capable of 600ft shots. I've aimed a few, but the cost of ammo and the wear and tear on a gun from such a thing is difficult, annoying, and not worth the time, effort, and money to put in the system. Something that insane is more of just bragging rights, something that, while tempting, isn't necessarily a good use of time or money.

Re: Just Wondering
M-14, ugh. I have heard they are a real bear to work on. Thanks for the info. One of the guys at Airsoft Atlanta (Andy i think) mentioned he had a VSR that he was getting 650-700fps out of. But it takes a toll on parts. Boy I hope I never get in a game that allows that type of power especially on full auto. Kinda makes the AOSC and NCAO rules seem worth it! Welts are bad enough, I don't know about digging bbs out of my skin.
See you guys at Fulda!

Re: Just Wondering
lol, and for most of the world, AOSC and NCAO rules are still really high. Most of the places that even allow airsoft guns to shoot above 1J cap them at 400fps with .2s for full auto. DMRs sometimes get capped at 450fps, and sometimes at 550fps. That's a measly difference between full auto and semi auto restriction. Having the slightly lower powered gun with full auto is much more firepower than having an over powered gun on semi auto.
The TM M14 is a pain, but the G&G M14 is much, much easier. Kinda like a mix between a V3 and V6. The trigger mech isn't all super complicated, and it's a lot easier to disassemble than the TM version.
