Fulda Gap FPS

Post by captainkirk05 » Wed Jun 27, 2012 6:00 pm

The Fulda Gap website says the limit is 400 FPS. No mass is listed. That also seems to eliminate snipers from the game, which would be odd. So, can anyone better explain this, because I would hate to show up and be ineligible to play.

They're claiming it's because of insurance that the fps has been neutered so badly. It basically means no more sniper rifles, support rifles, or DMRs this year. Everything has the exact same cut off.

That's understandable. Out of 700 something players, to trust everyone with 550 fps guns to never shoot within their MED, well that usually doesn't go as planned. Someone ends up bleeding.

No what they need to assign set sniper teams for each side. Teams that have true understanding of meds and what it means to be a silent set of eyes.

Many players on other forums are blaming it to be orginizing chrono stations for 1000+ players. I can care less. I will have most of my guns so if need be I will have back ups and sniper setup.

Just because the gun shoots at 400fps with .25s doesn't mean people aren't going to violate their MEDs. Trust me, that's still MORE than enough to cause people to bleed. Like Ghost said, most people are blaming it on the fact that they don't want to count every single person with a special gun. So they don't slow down the chrono lines.

Of course, they could always buy more chronos.......

But arguing is useless, if you don't like it, don't show up. They've made it quite clear that they aren't changing anything.

From the thread on the NCAO....
Here is the rules concerning FPS at Fulda for this year.
1.All AEG,DMR, and SAW's will chrono at a maximum of 400 Feet Per Second with a .25 gram plastic bb.

2.There will be a limited number of sniper positions, just like the AT gunners. These will be given to the general in the form of cards, sole decision of who can operate a Sniper Weapon System will rest on the General. Players do not have to be with a recognized NCAO team. Just like AT, Generals are responsible for the actions of their Sniper's.

As far as insurance goes, a 60 ft shot from 550 fps vs 400 fps will most likely deal more damage, being you're made of jello, or forget to switch out your real glasses with eye pro. And yes I agree with ya'll that it could very well be a cover for not wanting to chrono all day long.
I guess it will make for some up close and personal battles (like airsoft isn't close already lol)

Never said anything about not liking it either btw...

The only thing this will change is there will be nobody picking people off from alllll the way across the field. Most engagements in airsoft are very up close and personal anyway; 400 w/.25 is not exactly a pea-shooter power level. It won't reach out 350' with a .43, but it will still let you hit people in the 200-250' range if your gun is set up well.
