G&G or VFC

Post by Nabors » Tue Apr 10, 2012 5:12 pm

Im looking to make the ultimate field rifle with both excellent accuracy at about 200-250 ft and a good rof. I messed with the G&G scar at a local shop near where I live it seemed like a solid AEG. They said their's was shooting 400fps but every were i look says the g&g scar only shoots like 330-350. My other options is the vfc scar mk17. I have seen or held this AEG myself but i know vfc makes very high quailty AEGs. Just wondering if anyone had any info to put in on these 2 AEGs. Both are almost identical in price, but looks like the g&g comes with a vertical grip/bi-pod combo and the vfc has a longer barrel. My idea is to buy one of these and have to put a few key parts in it and go on my way.

here is some links

Do note however that with the G&G one you posted is the SCAR-L variant, which can use normal STANAG magazines, while the VFC one you selected is the SCAR-H variant which requires another type of magazine. Something to keep in mind, but I still vote VFC.

I'd get the Gay&Gay one. Magazine options are greater, and while the colors on it are wrong it isn't nearly as messed up as the VFC rifle.

I didn't realize the VFC SCAR-H had a proprietary hop unit...

Look at the pictures, the G&G SCAR-L has a "M4 Type Magazine", the VFC SCAR-H has a different kind. When I Google "VFC SCAR-H Issues" there are quite a few problems concerning the proprietary hopup, magazine feeding, etc. Google it and do some research on it.

The color compared to real steel is completely wrong.

Proprietary hop up, Jon? That right there may be enough for one to go with the G&G, as that is one of the most important parts of an AEG to have any accuracy and range at all.

I think one word answers should be avoided. They do nothing but voice an opinion, but without backing, or some reason behind that opinion, it's useless.

Both guns are excellent replicas, imo. I can't compare them to the real thing, but I can compare them to each other, and other airsoft guns in general. They are both very well built, and some very high quality items. Between the two, it's the small things that make the difference, as they are both great.

The stocks between the two are the biggest difference. The VFC has the integrated wiring system in the hinges, hiding the wires from view. The only time this is a problem is if a mosfet is being installed, as you generally have to bypass this system, making it useless. The G&G does have the wires visible. The battery compartment of the VFC is more easily acessable than the G&G version. G&G took a stance of installing the battery and then leaving it there as long as possible. If set up right, this isn't a problem, and makes things much easier in the long run. I've also found that the G&G has more room than the VFC.

Outside of that, the sights are a little more sturdy on the G&G, but mostly, everything is the same externally.

Internally, the G&G has the upper hand to the VFC. The gears are better because they aren't auto shimming, the piston is stronger, and the gearbox shell is one of the best on the market at the moment.

Bottom line, they are both very good rifles, but given the choice, I'd get a G&G, but I'd also get it black, the tan version is funky looking.

I personally own a VFC SCAR (mk17 ssr), and I personally hate it. Dont get me wrong, it's beautiful and light. But it stays broken more than any gun i've ever owned. The piston stripped the first game I used it. Then it had an electrical problem, and now the motor is somehow broken. I have spent nearly $100 in fixing it, and one thing keeps breaking after another. Also, it's hard to break it down to the gearbox, not to mention you'll probably have to get a special alen key.

i have no experience with the G&G, but I know that its heavier, and the externals arn't nearly as nice.
