Spring rifle. Will likely give you chiclone accuracy and range without a full auto option.

All in all, this is a entry-level spring rifle. It's not crap, and will likely last you for a long time with the stock parts, but you should not expect to be picking off targets in gillie @ 200 ft with this rifle.

I'd only get this rifle for two uses:
1) All your batteries are dead and you still want to play
2) To upgrade as a sniper platform (this particular one is a L96 platform, in case you start looking for parts)

Just so you know: VSR-10 snipers tend to be slightly cheaper (about $100-120 for a clone) and have upgrade parts which are more widely available.

i would put in a tightbore, one of star's r hops, and a m130. i've heard that star's hop ups do amazing things for a gun.

Most spring rifle hop ups are different from aeg hop ups. Odds are, you can't do one of Kory's mods unless you buy a hop up chamber that lets you use aeg barrels and bucking. I think DPI makes a chamber like that.

Also, you have to worry about the sears when you put in high power springs. I don't know what kind of spring those models come with, but if you plan on putting anything drastically stronger, you will need a reinforced trigger box and sears. You'll also need a new piston and spring guide if you put in a stronger spring. You might also want to consider replacing the cylinder and cylinder head.

I was thinking most hop-ups were the same. thanks for the info. I have an old spring laying around from my mp5 that was shooting 415-ish with a .25 so I planned on using that.

Spring guns use longer springs, too. Can't put an AEG spring into a bolt-action rifle. The cylinders are completely different.

IF you were to get this and upgrade it, the most important upgrades relate to accuracy rather than power.

An M130 would give you a nice increase in range, but it won't do you much good if you don't know where that shot is going when it gets there.

These are just my opinion, by the way. Different people have different priorities.

First: get a new hopup rubber
Firefly makes them good, be sure to get the right kind

Second: switch to heavy, high-quality bbs. You don't have to go straight to Madbull .43s, but I would get at least .30s, even if you are sticking with the stock spring (which is probably fine until you have $$ for serious upgrades)

Third: Get a new cylinder head. This helps with making sure that the air nozzle (which is part of the cylinder head in bolt-actions) is right on the bb in order to give consistent shots.

Forth: Get a Tightbore. This is NOT as important as many people say, but they do add a little consistency. Don't think that tighter is better. 6.01s might give you a FPS boost, but veterans of bolt-action setups have been saying that 6.03 seems to give the best accuracy.

After that, you've already spent ~$100, so if you want to add more than this, you will probably be better off saving up for a full rebuild of everything from the trigger to the cylinder ($500+).

Get a bigger spring than an M130. There are people with M130 springs in their AEGs. Basically, you will have exactly the same range without semi or full auto option.

The only hop up I've come across that can't take one of my mods is a PTW's hop up chamber, and I think I've worked a way around that as well.

Secondly, I second the notion that accuracy > power. An M130 will help, but if you get this gun, you should plan to upgrade the trigger and piston so that you can use a spring closer to an M170 power level to give you a bit of an advantage over full auto users.

Buy this rifle, slap in a nice tightbore and hopup, Army Force trigger and cylinder set, and you'll have a powerful, accurate bolt action for under $400. The days of $1500+ VSR builds outclassing everything else are numbered.

I'd heard about that stuff, but I didn't know if Army Force had quality parts. I guess they do. Go with this idea ^^

I've had this gun a few months now. Out of the box its.. decent. With few DIY upgrades you can have a great gun. With some paid upgrades (TB, metal internals) you can have an awesome gun.

If you want a sniper I'd recommend it

I'm making a video on the work I've done to the gun so far, mostly DIY stuff but the outcome is phenomenal. I'll post it here when I get around to it
