Polarstar Fusion Engine

I read this, and I thought I might share with this forum. It's more of a supplement to the link shown below, but I didn't want to necropost.

Here is a look inside the Polarstar Fusion Engine.
I busted open my Fusion Engine to take pics of the internals before switching it into my VFC MK18/M4 platform (fit like a glove).

Here are a few detail shots of the internal workings of Polarstar's Fusion Engine:


Easy open Cylinder for swapping out the air nozzle limiter.... can be done while the fusion engine is still installed in the lower.



I recieved 3 different color-coded nozzles (Gold, Blue, Red) for maximum operating performance within pre-set FPS intervals.



I decided to "modify" my trigger by decreasing the space in between the mechanical AEG trigger and the electronic actuator button



The trigger now requires half the length of pull than any normal version 2 AEG or the stock Fusion Engine. Perfect for a Marksman set up or CQBR.



This is showing how easy it is to switch the FCU wiring from the front to back.



And... as rare as the Polarstar Fusion Engine is at the moment, This is something that no other airsofter in the world has:

"tanks are for losers" seems to be the kneejerk reaction of every tweenage airsofter when they see a P* on the internet. On the flip side, everyone who sees them in person with a hidden tank and unobtrusive cord, and then shoots it, is converted.

Yeah, it's ENTIRELY about seeing the tank, but I don't like haveing cords and cables wrapped around me at all times.

/facepalm I meant to say it's not entirely about seeing the tank.

I use a sling, but that's ALL I like to have on me.

The place for the Polarstar is in special weapons, i.e. Karma up in NC is turning out M2HB's using the Fusion engine. The tank and hose is hidden in the bulk of the weapon that way. Vehicle mounted weapon systems also make a good platform for these for much the same reason.

That said, classic guns pretty much sucked, and I can't see where the new trend towards gas operated airsoft guns is an improvement, rather more like a trip down memory lane. Yes, I used a remote line and back tank for many many years as a p-baller, but they had their drawbacks (can't switch to offhand easily, can't use a traditional 2-point sling with them, endless connecting and disconnecting every time you entered a dead box, safe zone, left the field, etc, get snagged and hung up, abrasion issues), which is why except for a few old school players no one uses them in pball anymore, its all about tank-on-gun and has been for ages. No one in airsoft wants to see a tank on gun, so remote line and back bottle is about the best you can do with a gas operated gun. The GBBR's with the gas in the magazine honestly just cannot compete with a traditional AEG in terms of reliability or performance, except perhaps in the sniper/DMR realm, so one could see this as a definite improvement both in capability and reliability for gas rifles over those though.
Different strokes for different folks, it isn't for this old man. As always, your mileage may vary.

At least to me, the only really good role for a P* setup for the mobile player would be a sniper rifle or DMR. The sheer reliability and consistency would make up for the drawbacks.
