KWA M16 vs M4A1

Post by Romba » Tue Mar 08, 2011 10:17 am

I don't know where to put this, so Mods feel free to move.

I am planning on purchasing a KWA M4 (from you, Dom) in the near future. I am kinda thinking of going with the M16 for the supposed better range. What are the Pro's and Cons of each, and especially if you have fielded both, which is better in your opinion? Thanks for the help!

They're identical, except that one is longer. Expect to get slightly better range and accuracy out of the M16, but nothing that a tightbore and new hopup bucking couldn't get out of the M4.

Yeah I have run KWA m4s and m16s They really are the same thing, its all about what you want. I prefer a longer gun with a full stock so I stay with m16 or my SR 12. A few guys on our team have the SR 10 and it shoots the same just shorter.

I have both the SR5 and the SR 10 and they both shoot great.  My CQB rated SR5 reaches out there quite nicely and my SR5 with a madbull 130 has at least the same if not greater range than my SR10.

From what I gather, they are bot similar, other than length. Being 14 and approximately 5' 3" (short) I think I'll stick with the M4A1, since I can't afford an SR10.

Being a KWA owner/user of the M16 2gx,  I would go for the M4.  I might be slightly weird, but getting around those densley packed trees/brush with the M16 is more difficult than with an M4.  Otherwise, that is my only complaint,  I hear they are identical, and its really up to your personal prefrence.  Your choice at the end of the day man.

KWA M4 - M120 Spring (400 FPS)
KWA M16 - M130 Spring (430 FPS)

They aren't entirely identical.

Thing there is would be that at 430 FPS according to our rules, it would be semi fire only. And semi only doesnt fly with me, my strategy being fling lots of plastic till he says "out"

That's with chrono'ing with a 0.2g BB. However, it would be lower with a 0.25g, which I believe the rules have changed. Check up on it.

Bottom line is: You'll like either one.

Both guns will shoot under 400 with a .25, so you would be able to fire on full auto with either gun.

Alright. Good to know. I am still thinking M4 due to length....

That's the way I went.  I've owned an SR12, Sr10 and SR5 and love the shorter barrels better than the longer ones.  Easier to move with and as stated above swing around in the woods.
