Setting up my chest rig...

Post by SteevoLS » Wed Jul 14, 2010 3:37 pm

I recently purchased an Eagle LE MOLLE chest rig. It contains a 15x4 MOLLE grid.

My current plan is, from right to left...

Maxpedition Monkey Combat Admin pouch (4x4)
Condor triple-stack 6-mag pouch (6x4)
5.11 radio pouch (2x4)
Condor utility pouch (3x4)

That should fill it up completely. Anybody have any recommendations for alternative pouches, or critiques of my choices?

Is that the AK mag pouch?

Oh okay. I was confused by the "triple stack" part.

Looks good to me. Are you getting it in black, tan, or OD? I'm really liking my chest rig. It's very lightweight for when you have to run at/from the enemy  :P

Base rig is in Eagle Industries Khaki. The pouches will be in khaki, tan, coyote brown, etc. I don't really care if they all match perfectly.

Maybe add a roly poly and/or pistol mag pouch ( if you run a pistol ). Other than that sounds solid.

He runs an AEP so he could stick it in the admin pouch.  Sounds like a solid set up Steevo.

As Inked said, I run a TM G18C AEP. The short mags are very small, and would fit fine in the admin pouch, or anywhere else you could fit something about as big as 2 packs of gum.

I've already got a belt, Safariland, and roll-up dump ouch so I should be set in that regard.

Sounds good but you did forget one of the most important things, hydration.

I remember him saying he'll attach a hydration pack to the back.

I'm going to use a completely separate hydration backpack.

Depending on the way you reload, I have the most mag pouchs on my left side (I reload with my left hand) where they are easy to reach, as well as the dump pouch if you get one on that side as well, everything else not used enough goes on the right or in the admin pouch.

I'll definitely shuffle things around to see what works best for me.

It took me 2-3 games to find the best fit.  :)
