If this has solid MOSFETs and a solid motor then I'll be all over it like white on rice.

what is so superior about the ptw build vs. Standard aeg?

Re: $300 PTW clone
The PTW is more realistic, with exact dimensions and an inability to dry fire, but they also take expensive lowcap mags. I like the idea of a PTW over an AEG, and I'm kind of excited to see how this develops.Frost wrote:what is so superior about the ptw build vs. Standard aeg?
I do not always accidentally, but when I do, I accidentally the whole thing.

This comment, I do not understand?Felix wrote:If you have ever seen one shoot, you would understand.
The outrageously priced PTW is for a very small niche market of people who want the most realistic gun they can get with out having to worry about working on the gun. Though that's proven to not really help. Even a $1500 gun still breaks down and needs to be fixed, even out of the box. And the new $2500 likely won't be any different. From a tech stand point, the gun shoots 20rps on a 14.8v? I'm sorry, that gun is derp.
If you can't tell, I think of them very poorly. As steevols said, the electronics and motor fail. The hop up is also very bad. The cylinders are a nice touch, but not something that's unique to only the PTW. As far as the price/performance ratio, there isn't a gun that's more off scale than the Systema PTW.
Now, this $300 price tag is much more appropriate for this gun, heck, even a $500 price tag would be appropriate. I'm really curious to see the quality of this gun.

There are two kinds of airsoft players in the world. Those that own a PTW, and those that don't.

Re: $300 PTW clone
Not sure where you get 20 RPS from Star_Folder, my PTW could shoot at nearly 30 RPS with an M150 and an 11.1v 20C 2200mah. Everything else you said about them is true though. The gearbox uses planetary gears, which I am not going to explain (Google) and rather than a cutoff lever there is a magnet on the sector gear that trips a sensor that tells the (complex) electrical system to reverse the current for a split second. There is a sensor that cuts power if the mag is empty, so it will not dry fire unless you trip that sensor in some other way, this makes it more realistic and lets you know when you are out of rounds. Obviously the quick swap cylinders instead of the top half of the GB is another major difference, and the others mentioned. Being able to go from DMR to CQBR in ten seconds is nice, and I have used it that way in the field before. The hopup design is, in fact, crap. Simple mods make it better, and now you can buy aftermarket ones that are as good as AEGs... for a price. The uber short trigger pull and awesome trigger response are great, but you can make an AEG do that too. The wiring/circuit boards are complex (it's a lot more than just a built in MOSFET), and unfortunately subject to failure. The stock motors in most PTWs will almost certainly fail too. Unfortunately the receivers, though parkerized and very realistic looking, are NOT CNCed from a solid billet and they WILL break if you are not careful. This often happens near the front pin when people are rough with it. The bottom line is that the PTW has a lot of very unique technological innovations that are pretty sweet, but the fact that they have not been thoroughly vetted and put into production in a way that makes them last (plus the fact that they cut corners making the body, motor, and designing a retarded hopup system) means it is not, by any means, rock solid or something you can expect not to fail like any other airsoft gun that runs off of electricity.

I wasn't talking about the Super Max, I was talking about their brand new $2500 Mad Max.

Evidently, 20rps on an M170 was previously "believed to be the domain of the physically impossible." It's an enjoyable read when you realize that all they are doing is spewing crap into your brain.
The gun comes with an "exclusive" 14.8V / 1400mAh 25C lipo, that they claim to have designed themselves... It gets a whopping 24 rps with that M170 spring of theirs. In the video, you'll notice that it misfeeds twice. Also, the battery is only supposed to last 400 rnds.
As a tech, if I had a gun that didn't do 24rps on an 11.1v, I'd be ashamed, much less a 14.8v. Systema is just ridiculous.

Ah, I thought you meant PTWs in general. I just read through that, apparently they think that LiPos are some new and magical technology to airsofters...
