Polar Star PR-15
Polar Star PR-15
I just thought that this gun deserves some discussion. If you haven't herd about it I think its a pretty amazing concept. Basically it is a hybrid of a gas gun and an aeg. Thoughts/opinions?

Oh this baby? It is genuine walmart brand.
If it has been said by Henry, then it's probably right.

Its a great design on paper, its just not quite 'there' yet. And you need an external rig still, right?

Yeah you still need an external gas source. If you can get over that, and wanna drop a bunch of cash, it could be cool. But its still easier and cheaper to use an AEG

Re: Polar Star PR-15
The thing is, anything it can do, and AEG can do, and for the price, you can buy 2 or 3 AEGs and upgrade them to fulfill any thing that the P* system can do. This alone makes it worthless to me.
Plus, it's basically a paintball gun that shoots 6mm bbs, and that makes it lame.

Re: Polar Star PR-15
If you have a long tube and a ruck sack to house the gas tank, it actually doesn't look half bad.
I don't want to come up saying it's good or bad at this early point, but I'm pretty sure it has much less moving parts, which is a big plus in my dictionary.
However, the price tag sucks puss nuts.

When you're right you're right.
Re: Polar Star PR-15
My thinking is an external rig isn't a bad thing. That and my main point is that it should be really reliable due to the low amount of moving parts. That and I like that it is so versatile. For the amount of time that went into the design there shouldn't be many if any issues.

Well let me put it this way: this has been bouncing around the internet and Airsoft world for... at least 2 years. ... and I have yet to see anywhere anybody saying that it is living up to its potential yet.

Re: Polar Star PR-15
But you can't say it sounds like a bad idea. I think that in a few months we will be able to see what this gun really is. It's so new I can't even find a real review for it.

Re: Polar Star PR-15
Having actually seen and used one, I will say this. The absolutely precise compression is awesome, as is the ability to reliably run at any FPS imaginable. I would never use it for an assault rifle, but I could definitely see myself running it in a high FPS DMR/sniper rifle setup.

There's no kill switch on awesome!

Re: Polar Star PR-15
The external power source kills this rifle. Why don't I play paintball? Cuz the guns look stupid with external tanks and hopper feeding systems. It's a great idea, but it needs something different for the power source.
I do not always accidentally, but when I do, I accidentally the whole thing.

Re: Polar Star PR-15
Idk why they don't make a custom sized hpa tank that would fit perfectly in the stock.... probably still give you plenty of shots

Re: Polar Star PR-15
Well it wouldn't the size of the tank to fit in the stock would be tiny and you would only get like 40 or 50 shots. concidering that it runs on a tank that is at 3000 psi so just the ammount of alluminum to hold that pressure would fill the stock. Maybe with a full stock but still you would only get about a 100 shots on a good day.
