Mesh Eye protection

Is it allowed at AOSC games? I thought that you had to have full seal ansi rated eye protection, but after some research it seems that there are people who wear mesh masks. I'm considering getting a mesh mask.

I am aware of the dangers of Mesh eye protection.

But is it allowed at AOSC games?

Mesh is allowed at AOSC games. Many players wear them. A lot have bought the bitter end style. I use some I bought from Airsoft Atlanta. I like them, no fogging problems with them. But don't bring a homemade set out. Buy some that are approved for airsoft.

I'm going to put in a shameless plug here for D.Smitty.  He has some Bitter End gear, and sells them at games.  He has a "wear them and if you don't like them by the end of the game, return them provided they are not damaged"  policy.  PM him to verify this, and to make sure he has some available if you are going to any up-and-coming AOSC games.

6: I often hear of people afraid to buy mesh goggles because they think that they are going to get shards of polystyrene in their eye, and I'd like to dissuade them from that point of view with the following:
  1: I have worn mesh exclusively for more than a year, and I've been to as many games as any other very active player, I also know lots of players that use mesh. Neither I nor anyone I have ever known of has had any kind of splintering happen.
  2: BBs are made of polystyrene, more specifically a semigranular highly compressed form of it. This means that if it was to crack on impact, it would not turn into shards, but rather a crumbly granular substance. Don't believe me? Break a BB and see if it makes "shards". The only kind that will are cheap .12s made of hard plastic, which are not used in any game I've been to, and are often not even allowed.
  3: Assuming one does burst, and you happen to be the first person to have that happen to them in this state (that I'm aware of at least), not only will the only pieces small enough to fit through the holes be granular/dustlike (and therefore not sharp), but by the time they reach your eye it will be closed, due to the natural reflex to close them on impact to your goggles.

I almost always use mesh, and probably have more cumulative hours of actual airsoft combat than almost anyone except for Garrett, and have never had a problem with mesh.

just dont get CHEAP mesh.....i have mesh and ESS turbofans....my son uses the mesh, so nwo i have to get ANOTHER set for me. i think the ONLY issue you will have with mesh is if u want to use a scope...and that will be just a personal preference, dom has used his with no problems, others have had issues...but there is also a diff between mesh and stamped steel also.

I myself use a set of stamped steel mesh goggles I bought from smitty. I used a scope without any problems. I'd say the only thing was that the tint effect can be a problem during night play, but if you have good night vision it isn't too bad.

I prefer actual mesh to stamped steel. Yes, if you get hit really close by high FPS, the mesh will dent more than the stamped steal, but the mesh will let in more light and not be as annoying to focus past. That being said, I still use both because my stamped steal ones are in a more comfortable frame.

I'm planning on getting some bitterend head gear, that's why I asked.

I had saw the post that Doublewolf quoted, but it was old and I wanted to make sure that everything was still as it was.
