I am writing an essay to persuade people to play airsoft instead of paintball. While I'm sure paintball is a great sport, I do NOT want any arguments in favor of paintball. That is not the topic of the essay. This essay is supposed to make airsoft look good, and paintball look bad. That is the point of a persuasive essay, in case you didn't know. 

Please help me out by posting some reasons. Also post your name. If you say something really good, I could quote you.  :)

This is gonna get interesting...

-Airsoft is more realistic, and more challenging.

-It tests your honor and sportsmanship, as BBs don't leave big splotches all over you.

-Airsoft is way cheaper.

bush is right airsoft does test your sportsmanship and its way cheaper to play airsoft than paintball.  and personally i think that airsoft challenges you more than paintball...it requires more tatics

Just for the record, Paintball stole my identity, and Airsoft helped me get it back!

Ammo is cheaper. Typically field fees are less. You're not required at most games to buy field ammo. If you're required typically it's because they want everyone to be green and use bios. Paintball requires it because they're afraid that someone has tampered with the paintballs. i.e. freezing them, injecting things like CS into them.

Airsofters tend to emulate Military or LE groups. In some cases, teams/groups will play OPFOR to said organizations during training exercises. In the case of the 937rd COB, they're a group who is dedicated to this role and use airsoft replicas to assist in training.

Here's a parallel that someone told me. Airsoft vs. Paintballers is like Harley Davidson Bikers vs. crotch rocket riders. Airsofters/ HD bikers look ready to take care of business. Paintballers/crotch rocket riders are figuring out how much more neon they can get on their stuff and how cool it looks.

It isn't better.

The same could be said for the entire aftermarket externals aspect of airsoft.

HD bickers spend most of there time putting crome on there bikes. No offence to anybody with a Harley, but my dad has two Harleys and thats all he does.

Here is some paintball/airsoft history.  Paintball was derived from hunters in Africa as a training tool then US took the idea in the 1980s up north as a sport.  Where as Airsoft started in Japan in 1970 and thrived to the Philippines in the 1990s.  By the 1980s Airsoft was marketed in the US.  

I bet skirmishes was not big in the US until the 1990s.  I knew about airsoft in the US since 1994.

Believe it or not. I owned an airsoft gun in the early 80's.. It was a full metal UZI. Springer.. It actually had bullets you loaded into the mag. and an airsoft BB, bigger than 6mm, would fit in the tip of the bullet.
This was about the same time laser tag was out, and the first of paintabll I can remember was the game " Gotcha" . horrible paintguns that never worked right and were bright orange..

Main thing I dig about airsoft, is no paint.. its already bad to get mud on you, your gear and in your car. but paint would just be the icing on the cake..

And I cant stand the regular hoppers on painball guns..

but in fairness.. if it wasnt for a game of paintball, I would have never bought an airsoft gun...

Why airsoft is better than paintball?

Well airsoft can be more military simulated for one.
And the realistic guns and gear make the combat more real life. Ammo is way less $$ and you get more bang for the buck. also you can carry more rounds on your person.
Also mite I add the range is far Superior to any paintball gun.... so more is possible. for instens you can take a DMR and put one round 200 + feet! Good luck trying that one with a paintball gun
