Umarex Brand

Does anyone know who actually makes the Umarex brand? I thought I had heard that G&G or KWA was making them.
I know that they have the rights to have HK trades stateside. I was cruising through their site and saw that they have a 416 GBBR. Does anyone know what style mags they take? WE, WA or proprietary?

KWA only had permission to make and trademark the their MP7A1 GBB SMG, else their USPs would have HK trades and not KWA trades on them.
VFC is making a trademarked HK 416 GBBR outside the USA where most trademark laws don't apply. Not sure if it's officially licensed by Umarex or not.
As for Umarex's AEP/AEG line that I've seen around, I'm not sure the actual manufacturer of the guns.
If the 416 you saw was the VFC, then who knows at the moment. Last I heard it wasn't yet avaliable. Could you give us the link to what you were reading?

Here's a link to Umarex's site.

I'm not sure where I read what brand was making it. The Elite line of AEG's they're making all seem to have 8mm gearboxes. I was curious partly because they're supposed to be one of the dealers at an upcoming gun show in Charlotte, along with Spartan and a few other airsoft companies. I realize that most of the time companies allow their trades on a product the quality is usually better than chiclone.

Yup. Saw their name on the vendor list. I'm hoping to go Sunday if I can get all moved into my new place by then.

Could this be the VFC HK416(which has licensed Umarex trades?

The MP7 listed seems to be identical to KWA's which is also Umarex licensed.

Well the manual says nothing about VFC, but it does show that mega paragraph of text on the right side of the receiver that the VFC one does, so who knows.

This is a necropost, but I feel that this information might be helpful. Umarex AEG's are made by ARES.

Some are. Umarex is like Cybergun; they license trademarks and then rebrand existing guns. For example, the new Umarex MP7 is actually a KWA.

I have the Umarex 416 GBB sitting in my room, but I do nto know enough about different manufacturers to tell you who made it. When I talked to the rep at OK he named about 3 or 4 different brands that make all their weapons. It depends on the model.

I was mainly talking about the Umarex g36 series, which is made by ARES.

AFAIK, WE is the only manufacture that makes a GBB 416.

KWA is supposed to be making some too and this 416 is not on the market yet.

The general consensus out on the web seems to be that it's a rebranded VFC 416 GBBR. While VFC doesn't have one available yet, they did just release their M4 GBBRs. Given that a 416 (in airsoft) is just an M4 with a few doodads, it seems likely to be true.
