starting to write scenarios

Post by specter » Fri Jan 20, 2012 5:00 pm

I've written 6 or 7 this week in ap biology without thinking about them. now thaty I have cleaned out my backpack for the new semester, I have found a whopping total of 18 scenarios. i'll post some when I get around to it.
some of the types are : stealthy-5 person team organizes civillian rebellion and beats terrorists, normal game-then zombies, find intel-defuse bombs, and other stuff

Now are these playable games or just stories. I get dogged all the time (literally) because my stories have no objectives, which is basically the backbone.

Now i see your 18, and raise to 24

they have objectives and a fairly decent story line. not too much fluff. just the basics. here's one

OP: Stone Age
year 2098: after a 25 minute nuclear armageddon, most most of the earth was scorched and poisoned with radiation, wiping out most life. many years after that, 46 years to be precise, the earth is thriving with wildlife that survived without the presence of humans. 31 years later, the surviving humans are creeping out of their mass shelters in a technologically primitive state. all they have to survive are their bare hands, basic knowledge of how to survive, and and a few knives. some have found some old, outdated weapons from the early 21st century along with ammunition. they are at war again. as predicted, world war 4 is being fought with sticks and stones, and a few other things. they have divided into tribe like groups and that brutally kill everything they see. who will be the new ruler of the humans? who will be enslaved? fight it out and see.

now for the rules.
these tribes don't know about camo so they wear the tribe's colors.
the tribes are yet to be named.
tribe 1 is bright red.
tribe 2 is orange.
tribe 3 is white.
tribe 4 is yellow.

colors must be worn on a t-shirt or a bandanna or some other kind of easily visible thing. you can not put any team markings in your pocket and have a little hang out. it must be easily visible.

no MED pistols only. 1 per 3 people.

standard eyepro rules apply.

feel free to bring a blunt plastic or wood sword, lightsaber, any nerf things, or a pool noodle. if you can swing it, you can use it. just no bamboo switches, or sticks. small knives can be thrown. it is an instant kill. a body or head hit with a knive that is NOT thrown is an instant kill. if a limb is hit, that limb is no longer in play. if you are hit in the leg, you can choose to be dead if you want. be nice, just try to make contact with the person, not hurt them.

there is a 2 minute respawn time. if you are dead, lay down for 2 minutes and walk back to respawn. to capture a team and make it's members fight for you, hold their base for 5 minutes and capture their flag. your base will be their respawn. for the rest of the game. if all bases are captured, the game starts over.

I think thats one of those LARP things. Mod your ideas to 30-60 people that just want to have fun killing each other with the AEG's they have. Once you limit something, you limit people.

so it's a larp. ok. another one is basically running around shooting everyone and halfway through the game, all but a few ppl are zombies. as I said in the first post, I have quite a few scenarios. that one was the most recent one that I had fresh in my mind. I'm working on a big defuse the bombs and collect documents for wellford. just rrying to finally stop adding objectives lol

My suggestion is to seriously sit down and write objectives. Those make games.

Like Alpha must defuse one bomb that Bravo has planted. Make those kind of objectives except harder, more complex, different, whatever. Stories come second.

Nobody really cares about the storyline (well, most people don't). The important things the day of the game are physical locations of respawns, capturable points, movable objectives, and a timeline and scoring setup. While you're at it, you also need a system for the CO to receive objective instructions, a comms matrix, and enough admin staff to pull it off. There is a LOT of unglamorous work going on behind the scenes that most players never even think about.

Yah. I'm still planning the first one for our field too...

It will also be playable, and will include a storyline, good objectives and NPCs.

I win.
I do not always accidentally, but when I do, I accidentally the whole thing.
