Goggles
Re: Goggles
You won't have to worry about that in South Carolina hardwired, no fields ban mesh here and I can pretty confidently say it will stay that way. We are more likely to ban bio BBs than mesh googles.

Re: Goggles
I have seen every manner of gun fired into every manner of mesh goggles. Never have i seen a bb break on contact. (at ANY fps, talking up to 500 here, or whatever Star_folders gun was shooting at the time)
If a field tells me i can't wear mesh then they have lost a customer.
I wouldn't have started to wear mesh without testing it first. Beehive mesh is what i prefer, because, though i have never seen it myself, i have heard stories of bb's shattering through the larger openings in woven mesh goggles.

Re: Goggles
I'm a long time user and proponent of mesh goggles (I wear glasses), made my own, and my little tank's "windows" are made of similar material (for those who have seen it up close). Love them, except at night or in low light (dusk or dawn), where you will find that the mesh tends to reduce the amount of light reaching your eye, much like sunglasses.
Biodegradeable BB's (once very popular in Florida) will often shatter on the mesh panels on the tank (or mesh goggles) if fired at the right angle and/or speed, and yes, a bit of the crap does sometimes get inside, but it has no real momentum left. A fleck of dust/dirt, really. Nothing to be concerned about.
My only caution for those thinking of getting some....test them. Make sure you know what they are capable of taking before you hit the field.

Re: Goggles
I'm a big fan of having my eyes as protected as is possible, so I grabbed some of the flakjaks from Cheaperthandirt. They arrived today, so now I'm just piecing together the rest of the equipment I need, slowly.
Do you guys generally use a face mask too? Most of the people I talk to on the Internet about airsoft (who generally play in California or elsewhere) constantly say they're invaluable.

Re: Goggles
I always use a lower facemask in CQB games, but I rarely use one in a larger field game. You might look in to a mesh mask, so you can use it with your goggles.

Re: Goggles
I have a mesh lower face mask, and I always have it on, although the only time I actually wear it on my face is when theres a lot of fire nearby and the rish of being shot in the face is increased.
Also, I'm not sure how they play in cali, but if they dont limit fps at games, then that would be a very good reason why they find them so invaluable. here in SC we put the limit at 600 fps with a .25 and we still have people with chipped teeth, scars, ect. In areas I hear of that don't have limits, i imagine things get a bit more damaged.

It's more like 570 w/.25, or whatever it was that 600 .20g converted to .25g.

I may try out the mesh at the next Operation I will be at, I have yet to wear them threw a long game. I just have hard time because i love the yellow lenses it is like putting on vision enhancements.
